Version 1.4 and 2.0
Happy New Year, everyone!
We're looking forward to an exciting year of big Movable Type developments. Thanks go out to all who have supported us with donations, support and just really great feedback.
We hope our plans for Movable Type in 2002 will be as exciting for our users as they are for us.
As many of you know, we're currently developing a version of MT with multiple category support. This version, formerly referred to as 1.4, will also consist of interface improvements (including new and improved, and more importantly, more intuitive icons).
Expect this release to merit a version 2.0 label.
In the meantime, we couldn't resist planning a mini-release -- with the focus being the MT calendar display.
The MT calendar tags are infinitely customizable; you can build a calendar as simple as the output of the Unix 'cal' program, or as complex and custom as the calendar featured at 'A Day Late', a weblog of mine.
In addition, expect these additional features in 1.4:
- Tags to link to the next and previous archives (for example, the previous month)
- The ability to edit previewed comments directly (without using the Back button)
- The ability to customize the error page when an error occurs while adding comments
- New global tag attribute filters (encode_js, zero_pad, space_pad, remove_html, trim_to)
- A number of bug fixes and compatibility improvements
The release of version 1.4 is scheduled for Monday, January 7th.
Once again, thanks for the great response to Movable Type and remember to spread the word about the system!
