Nature just published
a great look at science blogs, focusing not merely on blogs that discuss topics related to science, but ones that are actually written by practicing scientists. The article also features some
great sidebars, including
a list of science blogs by non-scientist writers, an explanation of how
their list was made, and some
stats about science blogs.
There's some really fantastic blogging featured in the story, and even if you're not a scientist yourself, who could help but be charmed by blogs with names like
Pharyngula,
The Panda's Thumb, or
Three-Toed Sloth?
And as satisfying as it is to see this great science blogging going on, we're also proud that 30 of the
fifty most popular science blogs that
Nature has identified are powered by Movable Type. We're not experts at blogometrology, but we're pretty sure that's statistically significant. Naturally,
Nature has its own Movable Type-powered
news blog as well.
