Cisco Changes Its Stripes
A few weeks ago, networking giant Cisco announced that it was transforming its communcations, with the most visible part of the makeover being the launch of a new logo. As the discussion on Movable Type-powered design blogs such as Speak Up and Strategic Name Development indicated, Cisco’s audience on the web was ready for a new visual direction for the company. The new logo was even designed specifically to be displayed correctly at very low resolution, as on a mobile device or in the little favorites icon in your browser.
But the bigger news was the larger communications initiative taking advantage of the new web-based tools for interactivity:
A transformation is occurring on the Web. The end user is more in charge, creating collaborative websites and blogs, generating, mixing and sharing content, and having more of a say in how companies do business with them. The potential of the Internet is being fulfilled by more than the physical network alone, it is the human network where people are connecting and collaborating, enabling ideas and opportunities. This represents an ideal time for Cisco to transform our website, into a platform for collaboration, interaction and innovation.
The changes at Cisco are much more than just the skin-deep level epitomized by a logo. The most telling evidence is Cisco’s family of Movable Type-powered blogs. Using the platform’s ability to publish an unlimited number of blogs, Cisco has been able to address a number of specific audiences with a very human tone, starting a conversation that continues through comments, TrackBacks, and Cisco’s other online venues such as RSS feeds, podcasts and their website as a whole.
Cisco’s portfolio of blogs includes sites focusing on high tech policy, wireless mobility and general company news. Each is a conversation that’s directed to a specific audience, and each has been actively maintained over time, proving the company’s commitment and dedication to engaging its customers.
We’re proud to help provide the tools that let companies like Cisco engage their audiences in new ways. If you’re ready to engage your audience online, make sure you’re doing more than just changing the way your company looks. Change the way your company communicates, and get started using Movable Type.
